The relationship between David Powers Motorsports, Caterpillar and the Caterpillar dealers was designed as a pilot program to increase technician recruiting. Many Caterpillar dealers are experiencing a shortage of technicians. After successful events in several NHRA markets during the 2007 season, DPM and Caterpillar inked a multiyear agreement last August to participate in the NHRA dealer recruitment program. Ohio CAT will use this opportunity for recruiting as well as to display its products and services available to contractors in the region. Ohio CAT is the exclusive dealer for Caterpillar equipment for 89 counties in Ohio, Northern Kentucky and Southeastern Indiana. Ohio CAT operates nine CAT Rental Stores and is a top 10 Caterpillar dealer employing more than 1,000 people at 17 locations. “This should be a really cool weekend with Ohio CAT,” Fuller said. “Last year we went to the final round at Norwalk, so hopefully we can have another strong weekend and maybe put the Ohio CAT car in the winner’s circle this season.” Ohio CAT will have a display on the popular Manufacturer’s Midway at Summit Racing Motorsports Park with employees on site to answer questions and speak to people interested in a career as a Caterpillar dealer technician or assistant with equipment questions. Fuller currently ranks fourth in the NHRA Top Fuel standings following 11 of 24 races on the 2008 NHRA schedule. The Las Vegas racer earned his seventh career Top Fuel win by powering the Caterpillar dragster to the title of the St. Louis race in early May. Fuller also has six career Top Fuel poles. Last June, Fuller posted a runner-up finish at the inaugural Norwalk race. ESPN2 will feature two hours of qualifying highlights from the Summit Racing Equipment Nationals at 10 p.m. (ET) on June 28 and three hours of final eliminations coverage of the Norwalk race at 7 p.m. (ET) on June 29.
