FULLER DRIVES CAT DRAGSTER TO NO. 7 SPOT AT HOMETOWN TRACK

LAS VEGAS (April 12, 2008) – Rod Fuller raced his David Powers-owned Caterpillar dragster to the No. 7 qualifying position Saturday afternoon at The Strip at Las Vegas Speedway. Fuller used a run of 4.608-seconds to qualify in the top half of the field at the Summitracing.com Nationals.

Fuller, who won the fall Las Vegas race at The Strip last October, posted his best qualifying effort on Friday evening when he drove the Caterpillar rail to a pass of 4.608 seconds at 323.50 mph. The six-time NHRA Top Fuel winner drove his Rob Flynn-tuned dragster to two four-second passes on Saturday afternoon. Fuller clocked runs of 4.963 at 237.80 and 4.639 at 313.58 to remain in the No. 7 qualifying position. 

“It was tough out there, but we qualified in the top half of the field,” Fuller said. “I’m excited about race day. We seem to do well here at (Las) Vegas and I like racing in front of the home crowd. I hope we can repeat what we did here last fall.”

Fuller will face off against No. 10 qualifier Troy Buff when Top Fuel eliminations begin at 11 a.m. (PT) on Sunday at The Strip at LVMS. He is 0-1 in his career against Buff. Last spring, Fuller posted a semifinal finish at The Strip.
