FULLER RACES TO NO. 7 POSITION FRIDAY AT THE STRIP AT LVMS

LAS VEGAS (April 11, 2008) – Rod Fuller drove his David Powers-owned Caterpillar dragster to the provisional No. 7 qualifying position Friday evening at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The hometown favorite won the Top Fuel title at LVMS last October. 

Fuller, who enters the fifth race on the 2008 NHRA schedule ranked sixth in the Top Fuel standings, used a tune-up from crew chief Rob Flynn to navigate the LVMS quarter mile in 4.608 seconds at 323.50 mph to place his yellow-and-black dragster in the provisional No. 7 qualifying position. The Caterpillar rail overpowered the hot LVMS track on his first qualifying attempt of the weekend.

“We’re happy with that second run,” Fuller said. “We had a pretty conservative tune-up on that run because we wanted to make sure we got down the track and in the show. To be No. 7 isn’t bad. It was tough out there on the first run and it’s going to get hotter. This is going to be a driver’s race.”

Professional nitro qualifying picks up Saturday afternoon at The Strip with sessions scheduled for 12:30 and 3:30 p.m. (PT). Fuller qualified third last spring at the Summitracing.com Nationals.
