The Fuller Times The pre-race release of seven-time NHRA Top Fuel winner Hot Rod Fuller and the Caterpillar Top Fuel team Contact: Ted Yerzyk, (317) 852-6363 o, or (760) 207-9767 c ted@davidpowersmotorsports.com 21st annual Schuck’s Auto Supply Nationals June 18-20, 2008 Pacific Raceways Kent, Wash. Rod Fuller on Seattle “We’ve done well there the last few seasons. Rob Flynn’s family is from Seattle, so we want to do well for them and all the folks from N C Machinery too. It’s great to welcome another CAT dealer to the NHRA, so we want to show N C Machinery what a great sport NHRA drag racing is.” Rob Flynn (crew chief) on Seattle “Our goal is to go in there with a solid tune-up and rebound from last weekend. We ran well at Seattle last season. We also want to have a good weekend for our newest Caterpillar dealer N C Machinery.” Rod Fuller Seattle NHRA Notebook Last weekend at Bandimere Speedway near Denver, Fuller qualified his Caterpillar dragster in the No. 13 position with a run of 4.050 seconds at 292.90 mph. Fuller, who won the Denver race in 2007, was defeated in the opening round by teammate Antron Brown. It was the first meeting between the two David Powers Motorsports drivers this season. Fuller enters the 14th race on the 2008 NHRA racing schedule ranked fifth in the POWERade Top Fuel standings. He has one win (St. Louis) and pole (Norwalk, Ohio) this season. He also has recorded low E.T. of the meet honors three times and top speed twice. Last season at Pacific Raceways, Fuller qualified his “great white” dragster 14th at 6.153 seconds at 283.07 mph. Only one qualifying session was completed due to rain. Fuller was the only driver to win out of the right lane in the opening round of eliminations and raced to the semifinals before falling to Brandon Bernstein, 4.536 to 10.573. He also advanced to the semifinals in 2006 where he was defeated by David Grubnic, 4.808 to 5.151. Fuller has qualified for 74 consecutive NHRA Top Fuel events. The last time he failed to make the cut was at the Houston race in 1996 when he was driving the Montana Express dragster on a part time schedule. Fuller has the second longest qualifying streak in Top Fuel (Tony Schumacher). He has an average qualifying position of 7.38 in 13 races this season. His average starting spot in three races at Pacific Raceways is 10.67. Fuller has 13 career NHRA sportsmen victories in the Super Comp (seven) and Super Gas (six) categories. He has 20 career NHRA national event victories, seven coming in Top Fuel. Fuller’s Caterpillar-backed dragster will be flying the colors of Tukwila-based N C Machinery during the Seattle NHRA race. 2008 NHRA Top Fuel Standings 1. Tony Schumacher (6) 1,179 - - - - 2.
