Rod Fuller on Sonoma “We want to end this Western Swing on a good note. Our goal is to get into second or third place before the Countdown (to the Championship), so we need to go some more rounds. We’re excited to have Peterson back on the car and we want the Sonoma win.” Rob Flynn (crew chief) on Sonoma “We ran well at Sonoma last year, so obviously we’d like to continue that. We’re also are glad Peterson is back with us again this season and we want to continue to do well for Peterson and all our Caterpillar dealers.” Rod Fuller Sonoma NHRA Notebook Last weekend at Pacific Raceways near Seattle, Fuller qualified his N C Machinery dragster fourth with a run of 3.841 seconds at 313.73 mph. It was his quickest and fastest 1,000-foot pass. Fuller advanced to the semifinals before losing to rival Tony Schumacher. He earned his 105th career round win by beating Morgan Lucas in the quarterfinals last Sunday. Fuller enters the 15th race on the 2008 NHRA schedule ranked fourth in the NHRA POWERade Top Fuel standings. He has one win (St. Louis) in two final round appearances this season. He also has one pole (Norwalk). Fuller also has recorded low E.T. of the meet three times and top speed of the meet twice this season. If Fuller qualifies for the 2008 FRAM-Autolite Nationals, he will make his 80th career Top Fuel start. Fuller has qualified for 75 consecutive NHRA Top Fuel events. The last time he failed to make the cut was at the Houston race in 1996. Fuller has the second longest qualifying streak in Top Fuel (Tony Schumacher). He has an average qualifying position of 7.14 in 14 races this season and 8.75 in four professional events at Infineon Raceway. Fuller has 13 career NHRA sportsmen victories in the Super Comp (seven) and Super Gas (six) categories. He has 20 career NHRA national event victories, seven coming in Top Fuel. Fuller’s Caterpillar-backed dragster will be flying the colors of San Leandro-based Peterson Holding during the Sonoma NHRA race. 2008 NHRA Top Fuel Standings 1. Tony Schumacher (7) 1,297 - - - 2.
