The Fuller Times The prerace release of six-time NHRA Top Fuel winner Rod Fuller and the Caterpillar Top Fuel team Contact: Ted Yerzyk, (317) 852-6363 o, or (760) 207-9767 c ted@davidpowersmotorsports.com 12th annual O’Reilly Midwest Nationals May 2-4, 2008 Gateway International Raceway Madison, Ill. Rod Fuller on St. Louis “I’m excited about the St. Louis race. Our friends from Linn State (Technical College) will be back on the CAT dragster and we did well at Gateway last year. We’ve qualified first there the past two seasons and we ran really well at Atlanta last weekend. I’m ready to keep things rolling with the CAT car.” Rob Flynn (crew chief) on St. Louis “Based off our performance at Atlanta we have a lot more confidence and we’re back at the level we were at last year. Last year at Gateway, we made a mistake in the semifinals, but ran well there.” Fuller St. Louis NHRA Notebook Last weekend at Atlanta Dragway, Fuller posted his best qualifying outing of the 2008 season when he started second after clocking a pass of 4.572 seconds. He recorded low elapsed time of the first two rounds of eliminations (4.542, 4.556) before losing a close semifinal match to Tony Schumacher, 4.511 to 4.539. Fuller, a six-time Top Fuel winner, enters the seventh race on the 2008 NHRA schedule ranked sixth in the Top Fuel standings. He trails fifth place racer Brandon Bernstein by one point. Fuller has advanced to the semifinals twice and recorded low E.T. of the meet twice this year (Pomona 1 and Phoenix). Fuller has qualified on the pole at the St. Louis race the past two seasons. He earned his first career Top Fuel pole at Gateway International Raceway in 2006 with a run of 4.551 seconds. Fuller’s No. 1 qualifying time a season ago was 4.596 seconds. He also earned low E.T. of the meet honors at Gateway in 2006 and ‘07. Fuller has qualified for 67 consecutive NHRA Top Fuel events. The last time he failed to make the cut was at the Houston race in 1996 when he was driving the Montana Express dragster on a part time schedule. Fuller has the second longest qualifying streak in Top Fuel (Schumacher) and has an average starting position of 2.7 in three races at Gateway. Fuller has 13 career NHRA sportsmen victories in the Super Comp (seven) and Super Gas (six) categories. His father, Bob, also will be competing at the St. Louis race in the sportsmen classes. 2008 NHRA Top Fuel Standings 1. Tony Schumacher (2) 511 - - - 2. ANTRON BROWN (2) 485 -26 3.
