The Fuller Times The prerace release of six-time NHRA Top Fuel winner Rod Fuller and the Caterpillar Top Fuel team Contact: Ted Yerzyk, (317) 852-6363 o, or (760) 207-9767 c ted@davidpowersmotorsports.com Ninth annual Summitracing.com Nationals April 10-13, 2008 The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway Las Vegas Rod Fuller on Las Vegas 1 “After the Las Vegas race last fall, I’m excited. It’s my home race and Vegas has been good to me the last three times I’ve been there; we’ve been no worse than the semifinals. Not having a great weekend at Houston, I can’t think of a better place to rebound and get a win for this Caterpillar team.” Rob Flynn (crew chief) on Las Vegas 1 “Based off the last time we ran in Vegas, we had a pretty awesome weekend. We’re looking forward to running at that track, we’ve had some success there in the past and we hope to do well this weekend.” Fuller Las Vegas Notebook 1 Fuller enters the spring Las Vegas race ranked sixth in the NHRA Top Fuel standings. He has a round record of 4-4 this season and advanced to the semifinals at the Phoenix race in February. He has an average qualifying position of 9.2 in four races this season. Fuller clocked low elapsed time of the meet at both the Pomona 1 (4.494) and Phoenix (4.491) races. Last April, the hometown hero raced his David Powers-owned dragster to the No. 3 qualifying position with a pass of 4.498 seconds at 328.94 mph at LVMS. He advanced to the semifinals before falling to Bob Vandergriff, Jr. Last fall, Fuller drove the Caterpillar dragster to its most lucrative event of the year. The local racer won both the $100,000 Technicoat Shootout bonus race and the ACDelco Las Vegas Nationals earning at $50,000 double-up bonus from NHRA. It was his sixth career Top Fuel victory and first at his home track. Fuller has qualified for 65 consecutive NHRA Top Fuel events. The last time he failed to make the cut was at the Houston race in 1996 when he was driving the Montana Express dragster on a part time schedule. Fuller has the second longest qualifying streak in Top Fuel (Tony Schumacher) and has an average qualifying position of 5.8 in six races at LVMS. Fuller has 13 career NHRA sportsmen victories in the Super Comp (seven) and Super Gas (six) categories. Fuller and the David Powers Motorsports team will call the Golden Nugget Hotel & Casino home during the spring NHRA Las Vegas race. 2008 NHRA Top Fuel Standings 1. Tony Schumacher (2) 357 - - - 2.
