The Fuller Times The prerace release of six-time NHRA Top Fuel winner Rod Fuller and the Caterpillar Top Fuel team Contact: Ted Yerzyk, (317) 852-6363 o, or (760) 207-9767 c ted@davidpowersmotorsports.com 21st annual O’Reilly Spring Nationals March 28-30, 2008 Houston Raceway Park Baytown, Texas Rod Fuller on Houston “Houston is our team owner’s (David Powers) home track. I got my first round win there in ’05. I’ve never won there, so why not now? My dad has won two national events there though. We have Mustang (CAT) back on the car and they got it started with our deal with CAT. We went out first round so I want to redeem myself for all the Mustang folks.” Rob Flynn (crew chief) on Houston “We’re excited to have Mustang CAT back aboard. They were the first dealer to participate with the dealer recruitment program. We hope to have a better weekend for them. Based off of Gainesville (Fla.), we need to get a better on the warmer track conditions.” Fuller Houston Notebook Fuller enters the O’Reilly Spring Nationals ranked fourth in the NHRA Top Fuel standings with 175 points. The six-time NHRA Top Fuel winner qualified third two weeks ago in Gainesville, Fla. Fuller clocked low elapsed time of the meet at the first two races this season at 4.494 and 4.491 seconds. He leads teammate Antron Brown by eight points. Last March, Fuller qualified his Mustang CAT dragster third at Houston with a pass of 4.533 seconds at 326.56 mph. He fell in the opening round to Bruce Litton. Fuller had only six opening-round losses last year. Fuller has qualified for 64 consecutive NHRA Top Fuel events. The last time he failed to make the cut was at the Houston race in 1996 when he was driving the Montana Express dragster on a part time schedule. He qualified 17th and missed the field by two thousandths of-a-second. Fuller has the second longest qualifying streak in Top Fuel (Tony Schumacher) and has an average qualifying position of 8.5 at Houston Raceway Park. Fuller earned his first career NHRA Top Fuel round win at Houston Raceway Park in 2005 defeating Clay Millican in the opening round 4.587 to 8.894. It was Fuller’s 12th career race in Top Fuel. Fuller’s father, Bob, is a two-time sportsmen winner at the O’Reilly Spring Nationals. Fuller’s team owner David Powers is a Houston resident. 2008 NHRA Top Fuel Standings 1.
