(June 6, 2008) – Hot Rod Fuller drove his David Powers-owned Caterpillar dragster to the provisional No. 14 qualifying position Friday evening at Route 66 Raceway after clocking a run of 5.235 seconds. Fuller enters the 10th race on the 2008 schedule ranked sixth in the Top Fuel standings. The Las Vegas racer opened qualifying at Route 66 Raceway with a run of 8.961 seconds at 79.39 mph after overpowering the tricky race track on Friday afternoon. On his second attempt, the Caterpillar car shook the tires and Fuller pedaled the yellow-and-black dragster to a performance 5.235 at 317.12 to finish in the provisional No. 14 qualifying position. He qualified second at the Joliet race last June. “We’re ok,” Fuller said. “We missed it a little bit today, but we’ll make up for it on Saturday. I’m not worried. We have a big crowd of CAT folks rooting us on and we want to make two good runs for them and that’s our goal.” Professional nitro qualifying resumes Saturday afternoon at Route 66 Raceway with sessions scheduled for 1 and 4 p.m. (ET). Fuller recorded a career-best elapsed time (4.464 seconds) at the Chicago race last June.
